Listen up fashion followers and design junkies. As we’re in the throws of a global trend setting frenzy, with catwalks from New York to Moscow set ablaze with the latest designs and hottest new looks, we’re turning our heads to see what the innovative folk over at W Hotels are up to…
Any hotel brand bold enough to appoint their own stylist gets the nod from us, and recently they crowned their new Queen of style, Jenné Lombardo. The new first lady of fashion hails a pretty impressive CV with a unique approach bringing like-minded brands together something W consider right up their street. Her innovative creation of M.A.C. & Milk, connecting the renowned beauty brand with a raw space to create a unique platform for emerging designers during New York Fashion Week.
So what’s up her haute couture sleeve for W Hotels? The run-up to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City saw Lombardo beginning to identify the next group of designers for this season’s W Hotels Fashion Next program, a first initiative to hit the industry that fosters and supports emerging designers. With Lombardo at the helm, Fashion Next, will, for the first time in the program’s history, bring emerging fashion talent to a global audience. We can’t wait to find out more…
ocean life action
The Maldives are great for a lot of reasons. One of them is the amazing wildlife you’ll find there. Case in point, see this rare glimpse of ocean life at it’s best. (That’s a group of sharks searching for prey in the middle of a school of fish. Pretty neat.)

venture through vietnam
Vietnam is a young country (more than half the population is under 30) with a long history. The diversity of the landscape is guaranteed to satisfy, no matter what you are looking for. See the old French influence on the city of Hanoi, explore Halong Bay, trek through the mountains for some heart pumping exercise or explore up in the highlands (a favourite retreat for Vietnam royalty). So to get you started on your journey, we’ve got a great little clip to whet your travel tastebuds. Enjoy.
a day of flying
Each moving yellow dot in this time lapse video is a plane. Watch how patterns change as daylight passes over the map. Just thinking about all those people in the sky at the same time is pretty neat if you ask us…

defying gravity in cambridge
There’s something about this video that makes us all want to go about daily life with a difference. Watch PhilyDee and Kie Willis defy gravity as they make their way across Cambridge.
warning: this video makes free running look a million times easier than it actually is.
surfs-up in the arctic
We too often associate surfing with hot climates, warm(ish) waters and sandy beaches. From the large waves in Hawaii, right round to big rips in New Zealand. So when we came across this video of the pro’s catching surf in the northern Norwegian-Russian coast, it took us by complete surprise. Freezing temperatures, dark murky waters, and snowy beaches – doesn’t sound right does it? Take a look for yourself.
rebooting the airspace
If you were unable to grasp the effects of last week’s volcanic eruptions on flights in Europe, hopefully this video will do the talking. The video begins with showing the virtually dead airspace when flights were suspended, untill the ban was lifted. Who knew there was that much traffic up there.
safari in botswana
Botswana is simply one of the best places on Earth for safari. On land or on cruising the water of the Delta, Botswana it’s a wildlife lover’s haven.
One of our Africa experts recently headed back to soak up all this incredible place has to offer and managed to get a few clips on video. Here’s a quick selection of what a trip to Botswana has in store.
For more inspiration to take a trip to Botswana have a look at our water and land safari, botswana or quad bike to kubu, botswana experiences.
the wildebeest migration returns to northern tanzania
The Sabora Tented Camp, located in the wilderness plains of Singita Grumeti Reserves in northern Tanzania, is yet again in the midst of an annual migration. Enormous wildebeest herds are returning from the northern Serengeti to join existing populations of zebra, Thompsons gazelles and topi. At this time of the year the herds are typically further north. East Africa has however been experiencing an extended dry spell and last month’s early rains in the Grumeti Reserves created a spectacle more reminiscent of the migration seen during the months of June and July.
For a luxury safari we couldn’t recommend Tanzania highly enough and we’re rather good at organising them, whether it be a honeymoon safari or that once-in-a-lifetime trip you’ve been planning for years, we’ll ensure you do it in style. So if you want to see this spectacular phenomenon first hand, or to spot the big 5 in all their splendour, get in touch with one of our safari experts and we can start helping you plan your trip.
