katie’s out in london

aqua london
Here at Black Tomato we’re always on the prowl for exciting new happenings in our home town of London, so we got Katie to give us the full report after she went to check out aqua London. They’ve been around for a little while now, but a new evening has been created, ‘Liquid Cashmere,’ giving us the perfect excuse for a re-visit…:
With a multitude of bar openings and revamping restaurants happening here, there and everywhere I’m always looking for that one that really stands out. I love it when bars take a twist on a specific theme, and over the last few weeks, months – (it seems like forever…) there has definitely been a chilled theme in the air. With one of the coldest winters in decades still etched onto the memory, my ears pricked at the alluring sound of warming cocktails wrapped in 100% luxurious cashmere looking out over a panoramic view of central London.
aqua London, is based a mere hop, skip and a jump from the bustling Regent Street. Its newest promotion ‘Liquid Cashmere’ had me pretty excited and here’s why.
I rode the lift straight up from street level, opening out into the beating heart of aqua. Firstly I headed through the bustling aqua spirit, an urban chic bar, perfect for after work drinks and pre-going out catch-ups. Then on through aqua kyoto, which offers mouth watering sushi and the best contemporary Japanese cuisine around until I reached the large heated terrace, where on a clear night all the main action takes place.
The evening skyline from aqua’s rooftop bar is simply spectacular, I was definitely wowed by the almost 360 degree views of the darkening metropolis. Once I was there, it was time to sink into a comfortable armchair, wrap myself in a thick black cashmere blanket and soak up the cosy vibe. Bliss.
It is certainly the small touches here that really make Liquid Cashmere something not to be missed. Choose your cocktail of choice – I recommend Witches Brew, which is mixed with a 23 year old rum (delicious and dangerously drinkable), you’ll be served by a waiter, dressed head to toe in ‘arctic chic’ outfits – just to complete the overall wintery feel.
I sipped my steaming winter warmer as I admired my surroundings and unwound after a long day at work; a blissfully chilled setting (literally). Naturally, I had to get the full report so I worked my way through the carefully designed menu which will warm you up from top to toe, and when I started to feel peckish (or a little lightheaded maybe?) there was a delightful menu of Spanish and Japanese bowl food to nibble on. Perfect.
Sadly this cosy night, along with winter, isn’t going to last forever, so hurry down before it’s all over.
